Our Business Administration Apprenticeship Programme is an excellent route into Business for those who would like to continue their academic learning, but at the same time as gaining invaluable Business experience in a work environment. This scheme is particularly well suited to school leavers as an entry level route into a career in Business.  This scheme commences each September.

Business Administration Apprentices spend two years working in 3-month placements in different departments around the Business, getting involved with a variety of projects and providing administrative/clerical support to business teams.

On completion of the apprenticeship, you will seek a permanent position within the Company, often in administrative, secretarial, clerical or junior officer roles.

Entry Requirements:

  • 5 GCSEs (Grades A*-C) which must include Maths and English
  • Keen interest in Business

The first year is spent working in planned 3-month placements within the organisation, learning from your placement supervisors and gaining important business skills in a range of business areas.
Placement areas could include Trainee Development, Human Resources, Employee Development, Procurement, Central Tooling, Site Facilities, and Customer Support and Service; to name but a few.

Academically, you will undertake the following qualifications/training on-site at AgustaWestland:

  • Technical Certificate in Business Administration

– Work Skills
– Personal skills

  • NVQ Level 2 Business Administration

Covers 12 units, which include: Carry out responsibilities at work, Work with your Business Environment, Manage Customer Relations, Spreadsheet Software, Organise and Support Meetings etc.

  • Microsoft Training

– Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project

  • Launch Pad Programme

All apprentices participate in the Launch Pad programme; a Personal development programme that develops skills such as Team Working, Presentation Skills, and Customers Focus etc.

Year 2

In Year 2 you will embark on a BTEC Award in Business to compliment the NVQ programme and raise academic level. The BTEC is a 2 year programme so you will complete this study during your first year of your permanent position. Within the workplace, you will continue to complete planned placements around various departments of the Business. Qualification obtained:

  • BTEC Award in Business
Covers modules including for example:
– European Business Operations
– Business Enterprise
– Introduction to Accounting
– Business and Economic Environment
– Contracts and Legislation,
– Managing a Business Project or Event


On successful completion of the Business Administration Apprenticeship, you may apply for further academic sponsorship to commence studying for a Foundation Degree in Business and Management, to further your academic learning.
