Finmeccanica is Italy’s leading high-tech company, operating in the design and manufacture of helicopters, defence electronics, commercial and military aircraft, aerostructures, satellites, space infrastructure and missiles. 
 

It plays a leading role in the European aerospace and defence industry, and participates in some of the biggest international programmes in these sectors through well-established alliances with European and American partners. Finmeccanica also boasts significant manufacturing assets and skills in the transport and energy sectors.

The Group is listed on the Milan Stock Exchange, and operates in Italy and abroad through subsidiaries and joint ventures. In total it has about of 70,474 employees. Around 57% of staff are located in Italy and around 43% are located abroad, mainly
in the US (15%), the UK (13%) and France. In 2011, it generated revenues of approximately EUR 17.318 billion and orders of EUR 17.434 billion. Finmeccanica has a backlog worth EUR 46.005 billion and invests about 12% of its revenues in research and development.
