Training Academy Italy
The Training Academy “A. Marchetti” offers a complete range of courses for all AgustaWestland Civil aircraft and many military variants. Ground courses are conducted using traditional instructor led classroom training methods, making full use of state-of-the-art training technologies and teaching methodologies.

COURSES FOR PILOTS
The Training Academy is a Type Rating Training Organisation (TRTO) certified by JAR (the Italian Civil Aviation Authority ENAC, in accordance with JARFCL2) and by the FAA, as a Part 142 Training Center. Courses are provided for a wide range of helicopters by highly professional ground and pilot instructors. The services offered by the Training Academy are also very wide ranging, ranging from basic VFR and IFR training, to the high levels of qualification required to fly, operate and maintain modern sophisticated helicopters. All Civil courses comply with the standards established by JAR-FCL2.
Flight training takes place following satisfactory completion of the Type Rating Ground Course, when pilots progress to Full Flight Simulation provided by Rotorsim (for the AW139, AW109E, A109LUH, A109N) and/or the aircraft at the nearby Vergiate and Cascina Costa airfields.
TECHNICAL COURSES
The Training Academy has been approved as a maintenance-training centre and is certified by ENAC in accordance with regulation EASA Part147.
The Academy boasts AW139 and AW109E Maintenance Training Simulators (MTS) that offer a practical and efficient alternative to the real aircraft for mechanical and avionics technicians and include additional features to enhance learning.
The AW139 Maintenance Training Simulator includes simulations based on the real aircraft to support practical maintenance elements such as:
- Complex troubleshooting
- Operational checks
- Detailed visual inspections
- Installation and removal of the main components
- Hydraulically and electrically actuated helicopter components
- A fully operational Honeywell Primus Epic Avionic Suite
- An instructor and student support workstation (the AgustaWestland Operative and Maintenance Station)

Basic courses are also available for technical personnel with little or no experience, with advanced courses available for more experienced technicians. All courses comply with the standards established by JAR 66/147 and include the following:
- Category A: line mechanic certificate (turbine helicopters)
- Category B1.3: line technician certificate (turbine helicopters)
- Category B2: line technician avionics certificate
- Category C: basic maintenance certificate
A certificate of proficiency will be issued to students who pass the exam, having achieving the required minimum pass mark of 75%. A certificate of attendance will be issued to students who do not pass the exam.
