AgustaWestland is successfully applying its broad-based training capability into new market areas, including land systems. In particular, AgustaWestland is delivering the training solution for the UK Army BOWMAN communications programme and is the training partner in international consortia bidding for major UK programmes in land digitisation, communications and ground based air defence.
Secure Tactical Combat Communications
The BOWMAN programme will replace the British Army’s Clansman Combat Net Radio (CNR) with a secure voice and data service to form the foundation for a digital networkenabled land battlespace. BOWMAN will provide battlefield communications for those elements of all three Armed Sercies that take part in, or provide direct support to, land operations. BOWMAN is the primary means of command and control below brigade level in the land battle.
AgustaWestland will train over 73,000 British Forces personnel in BOWMAN by mid-2007.
ComBAT will increase the number of digitization job roles, focusing more on the delivery of applications training.
Land Digitization
The UK Land Digitization programme will enhance military effectiveness by improving the timeliness, efficiency and consistency of the acquisition processing, distribution and the presentation of operational information.
Further to delivering training capability for BOWMAN ComBAT Infrastructure and Platform (CIP) and FC BISA, AgustaWestland is also providing its courseware and classroom training solutions to other Battlespace Infrastructure Support Application programmes.
